- Quinton E. Baker, a gay African American, became acitve in Civil Rights protests while a student at North Carolina Central University. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, and after living in Boston for a time, returned to North Carolina where he became active in the social justice issue of health care.--From Oral Histories of the American South biography.
