- Biography:
- Muhammad Abdul Aziz, known as Norman 3X Butler, was one of three Black Muslims convicted of assassinating Malcolm X. Aziz, who has maintained his innocence, was pardoned in 1985. Beginning in 1991, he served as director of support services for a Harlem drug rehabilitation program known as Phase Piggy Back. In 1998, Louis Farrakhan named Aziz as chief of security for Malcolm X's mosque (Mosque No. 7 in Harlem) as chief of security and training for the Nation of Islam's East Coast region. In July 1999, Aziz was fired from these positions.
