Attaway, Samuel Roland, 1915-1993
- Biography:
- Johnson County, Georgia sheriff. In 1983, a group of Wrightsville Blacks accused Attaway of violating their rights during a series of protests in April and May 1980. They accused him of beatings, verbal assaults, and arrests without probable cause. The plaintiffs lost the $21.3 million case when an all-white jury found Attaway and the other defendants innocent.
