Originally from McComb, Mississippi, Geary Simmons Alford was a student at Millsaps College in 1967 when he participated in a student-led protest march in May 1967 following the police shooting of Benjamin Brown. Alford went on to receive his doctorate in psychology and is a practicing psychologist in Jackson, Mississippi.
