Description:: In the fall of 2019, WSFA donated its collection of historical news footage to the Alabama Department of Archives and History. Included are more than 7,000 audiovisual items recorded by camera operators from the 1950s to the 2000s, along with other materials such as scrapbooks, photographs, negatives, correspondence, and newsletters. The content documents almost every aspect of life in Alabama, providing a remarkable visual record of our state in the second half of the 20th century. The footage is especially rich in regard to state government and politics, but other topics such as sports, business, and society are also well represented.

Description:: Collection containing over 4700 Kodachrome slides and black-and-white photographs documenting the following Mississippi counties in the late 1940s and 1950s: Benton, Clay, Grenada, Holmes, Jones, Marshall, Panola, Prentiss, Quitman, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Union, and Yalobusha. The collection includes 727 images of the University of Mississippi, most of the University images do not have corresponding dates but document the campus and culture prior to the 1962 Integration.

Description:: A Democrat, Carroll Gartin served three terms as Mississippi's Lieutenant Governor (1952-1956, 1956-1960, and 1964-1966). He lost a 1953 campaign against incumbent James O. Eastland for the U.S. Senate and a 1959 race against Ross Barnett to become governor of the state. In 1966, Gartin announced his intention to run for governor again but died of a heart attack in December of that year.
