The Atlanta Urban League (AUL) was established in 1920 as an affiliate of the National Urban League. The AUL served as an organization dedicated to addressing the social and economic concerns of African Americans in the city of Atlanta.

The Joseph Echols and Evelyn Gibson Lowery Collection

Description:
The Joseph Echols and Evelyn Gibson Lowery Collection, 1946-2014, contains approximately 450 linear feet of personal papers, sermons, speeches, correspondence, SCLC and SCLC/WOMEN records, and hundreds of historical photographs and audiovisual records documenting the Lowery's struggle of justice and equality. The Lowery Trust granted sole ownership of the collection to Morehouse College in March 2021. Shortly thereafter, the Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Library was formally designated as custodian of the collection with responsibilities for housing and providing access for students, scholars, researchers, and the global community.

Description:
Educational Media Collection spans from 1963 to 1966 depicting different activities at the University of Alabama including homecoming activities, basketball and football games, beauty pageants, fraternity and sorority activities, coach Hank Crisp, coach Paul Bryant, president Rose on President's Day 1964, demonstrations against Wallace, 1966 Robert F. Kennedy's visit, Lady Bird Johnson at the University, Lurleen Wallace at the University for Governors Day, and department faculty members.

Black trailblazers, leaders, activists, and intellectuals in Cleveland

Description:
Black Trailblazers, Leaders, Activists, and Intellectuals in Cleveland contains approximately 2000 images of 500 individuals selected from the photographs in the Cleveland Press Collection. The photographs in the collection generally date from the 1920s on, with most of them from 1960 to 1982 and are arranged alphabetically by the individual's last name. To be included in the collection, an individual had to be either born or raised in the greater Cleveland area or have lived a significant part of his/her life in the region.

Grace Towns Hamilton (1907-1992) was a civic leader and Georgia General Assembly member. She is known as the first African American woman elected to the Georgia General Assembly. She represented the Vine City area of Atlanta in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1965 to 1984.
