- Description:
- Black and white photograph of a crowd gathered at a lunch counter during the Chattanooga sit-ins of February 1960. This took place at Woolworth's lunch counter on the third day of protests. African American students sat at the lunch counter which had a sign that read: "lunch counter closed". Even more African Americans are gathered behind those at the counter, and a few white students are gathered as well. A few police officers can be seen at the very back of the crowd. In the distance someone is standing on the counter, perhaps taking a photograph. The name "Wilson" is written on the back referring to the photographer, likely Delmont Wilson of the Chattanooga News-Free Press.
