- Description:
- Letter from Joseph A. DeLaine, Sr., of Summerton, South Carolina to James Hinton, President of the state chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), in Columbia, South Carolina, regarding the stalled bus transportation case, Pearson v. County Board of Education (1948). DeLaine observes that "when [the case] breaks to the public it will give great courage to many who are waiting on leadership." DeLaine encloses the balance of the Clarendon County NAACP Treasury. DeLaine's handwritten note adds that work stalled in December 1943 after his health failed and the money remained in bank over four years.
