The report details progress made in South Carolina in 1965 within three aspects of the civil rights movement: voter registration, implementation of the Economic Opportunity Act, and school desegregation. Volunteers led by NAACP Task Force Workers registered over 14,000 people in South Carolina during the summer of 1965. Workers staged a march to protest the discriminatory manner in which state officials were implementing the Economic Opportunity Act, and held workshops and study groups to educate people about the Act's provisions. The report lists highlights of school desegregation activities in the state, which include the desegregation of all state colleges and universities, a suit filed to prevent the state from financially assisting private segregated schools, conferences, and the enrollment of 3,900 African-American students in previously segregated schools.
