As a lawyer in 1952, he successfully prosecuted the Boyce Holleman case by proving that voter fraud had kept Holleman from winning. Beginning in 1953, he served two terms in Stone County's legislative seat, retiring from that position in 1960. While in office, most considered him an extreme liberal on racial issues. His parents were sharecroppers, and in 1949 they moved the family to the McGann plantation in Bolivar County, where Reverend Rash grew up. In 1963 Reverend Rash graduated from Eastside High School in Cleveland, Mississippi, becoming the first member of his family to earn a high school diploma. After graduating from high school, Reverend Rash began his long time service as pastor of the United Baptist Church in Cleveland. In addition to his work as a minister, Reverend Rash has been very active in both civil rights activities and Mississippi politics. DeCell in his office in Yazoo City, Mississippi.DeCell enrolled at the University of Mississippi but with the start of World War II, he was called to service.After the war, DeCell returned to the University of Mississippi to finish his pre-law studies.He went on to Harvard University Law School where he obtained his law degree.Upon his return to Mississippi, DeCell began to practice law. In 1959, DeCell campaigned successfully for election to the Mississippi Senate, and subsequently was reelected to four additional terms. In 1975, Buckley was elected to the Mississippi House of Representatives to serve a four-year consecutive term.While in the legislature, he worked on the Judiciary B. Committee, Education Committee and the Penitentiary Committee.Buckley was appointed to the Select Committee on Education and is a member to the National Assembly of State Legislators, representing Mississippi as a member of that body's Education Committee.
