Dr. Richardson received a bachelor's degree in history from Western Reserve University (1925), and a Bachelor of Sacred Theology degree from the Harvard University Divinity School (1932). In 1945 he received a doctorate from Drew University Theological Seminary focusing on rural sociology and religion. In 1933 Richardson accepted the position of Chaplain at Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, a position he held until 1948. Dr. Richardson moved to Atlanta in 1948 to become President of Gammon Theological Seminary.
