The document delineates issues, like equality of education facilities and areas of recreation (playgrounds, parks, etc.), the right of African Americans to franchise and tax supported hospitalization, and improved wage conditions for domestics and laborers. Other correspondence, between higher-up members like Rebecca Reid, James B. This committee later became the South Carolina Division of the Southern Regional Council (SRC), a national organization formed to promote civil rights. The South Carolina Council on Human Relations was formed in 1957 as an affiliate of the SRC.
