- Description:
- South Carolina Governor Robert McNair gives a press conference on the situation in Orangeburg [silent]. Other television cameras are visible. Dr. Maceo Nance, president of South Carolina State College, is interviewed. Also includes scenes of broken windows on Orangeburg streets. [As Governor McNair and Dr. Nance refer to injuries but no deaths, this footage was likely filmed on February 7, the day after an altercation between officers and demonstrators. On February 8, South Carolina Highway Patrol officers opened fire on an unarmed crowd of demonstrators, killing three and wounding nearly 30 more.]
