- Description:
- This May 25, 1973, letter from attorney Beverly C. Moore to Michael K. Curtis, attorney representing the UNCG Student Government Association (SGA) in its appeal against Chancellor James Sharbrough Ferguson's decision on the status of the Neo-Black Society outlines ground rules for the June 4, 1973, appeal hearing. The procedures and issues of the appeal are outlined, as are the mechanisms for recording testimony. On March 26, 1973, SGA had voted to reclassify (removed funding and recognition from) the Neo-Black Society. The SGA decision was overturned by university administration on the basis of faulty evidence and improper procedure by SGA, resulting in an eventual legal case that led to the Neo-Black Society's reinstatement as a recognized and funded organization.
