- Description:
- These two letters written by UNCG Chancellor James Ferguson explain and justify his actions to reverse the decision of the UNCG Student Government Senate to reclassify the Neo-Black Society. The Student Government Senate held a hearing to determine whether the Neo-Black Society should be reclassified in a way that would strip its funding as a student organization. Their decision to reclassify brought protests from the Neo-Black Society and the chancellor subsequently appointed an ad-hoc faculty group to review the situation. As a result of the faculty review, the chancellor reversed the student senate's decisions. These letters to Neo-Black Society coordinator and Student Government Association officers, explain the chancellor's decision to revese the Student Senate's decision and thereby maintaining the Neo-Black's Society's classification as a Type II student organization.
