- Description:
- This August 3, 1970 letter from J. Clay Madison to Chancellor James S. Ferguson thanks Ferguson for his participation in a July 1970 conference on race relations sponsored by the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. Ferguson agreed to serve on a white task force which presented a position paper alongside a position paper prepared by a black task force. This letter comments of the success of the two presentations and subsequent correspondence in Ferguson's files indicate the paper was well-received and copies were requested for distribution.
