- Description:
- These selections from the 1951 Guilford College yearbook, The Quaker, highlight the involvement of international and other minority students on the Guilford College campus during the Korean War. Notable in this edition is the senior picture and caption for Anne Hamae Isonaga from Koloa, Kauai, Hawaii, as Hawaii was still a territory of the United States at this time. Isonaga is represented in the caption "Our Hawaiian hula dancer," which highlights the relatively small amount of diversity at the college at this time. Also notable is a photograph showing a Confederate flag hanging from a window.
