- A certificate (1909) stating membership of William Spurgeon Askew to The Grand Fountain of the United Order of True Reformers. The certificate states that upon Askew’s death that his wife, Juliet L. Askew, shall receive $125.00 from the organization. The Richmond, Virginia-based organization was one of many fraternal organizations established to make up for limited funds available from The Freedman’s Bureau. It was established specifically to economically assist formerly enslaved persons and their families.
