- "Jennie Borden Parker was born October 26, 1919, in Illinois. After attending Greenville College, she went on to work as a school teacher, research assistant, and community activist. She became active in local politics in 1968 and helped to organize the Reformed Democrats. She was active in voter registration for African Americans. She was married to Dr. Franklin D. Parker, professor of history at University of North Carolina at Greensboro from 1951 to 1983.
