- Gwendolyn C. Jenkins was a twenty-one year old receptionist for attorney James Bell in St. Louis, Missouri when she was arrested in Jackson, Mississippi for her participation in a Freedom Ride. As part of the Freedom Ride, Jenkins and two others took an airplane from St. Louis, Missouri to Jackson, Mississippi where they were arrested in the Jackson Municipal Airport on 7 June 1961.
