- "Robert Glenn was born on September 20, 1921, in Greensboro, North Carolina He attended Greensboro public schools and graduated from Greensboro Senior High School (now Grimsley) in 1940. Glenn served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. After returning to Greensboro, he enrolled in and graduated from Guilford College, and later obtained a master's degree in education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In September of 1950, Glenn was hired by the Greensboro City School System to teach at Lindley Junior High School and act as a football coach at Greensboro Senior High School. After one year, he moved to Greensboro Senior High School as both teacher and coach. Six years later he was appointed assistant principal, where he helped oversee the integration of the school as mandated by Superintendent Ben Smith.
