- Biography:
- Fred J. Cassibry (1918-1996) was appointed as a federal judge to serve for the U.S. District Court, Eastern Division of Louisiana by president Lyndon B. Johnson in 1966, a position he held until retirement over twenty years later. Cassibry was also a field representative for the National Labor Relations Board and practiced law from 1947 to 1960. He served on the New Orleans City Council from 1954 to 1961 and was a state court judge on the Orleans Parish District Court 1961-1966. He retired from the judiciary in 1987, after which he returned to private practice. He served on the Louisiana Economic Development and Gaming Corporation from 1994 until his death in 1996.
