- Biography:
- Lawyer and civil rights activist, Brown served as the president of the Pittsburgh NAACP from 1958 to 1970 and was one of the founders of the United Negro Protest Committee and the Black Construction Coalition. He ran for mayor of Pittsburgh in 1989. Byrd Rowlette Brown died in Pittsburgh on May 3rd, 2001.
