- Biography:
- Byron Mark Baer was working as a motion picture technician in Englewood, New Jersey when he was arrested for his participation in the Freedom Rides during the summer of 1961. As part of the Freedom Ride, Baer, along with nine others, took a Greyhound bus from Nashville, Tennessee to Jackson, Mississippi where he was arrested on 29 July 1961. Baer later served the state of New Jersey as both a state representative, from 1972 to 1993, and a state senator between the years of 1994 and 2005. He died on 24 June 2007.
