It was developed through a partnership of the Alabama Humanities Foundation and Auburn University and with the generous financial support of its founding sponsors. EOA offers articles written or adapted specifically for it and, when possible, enhanced with multimedia content. New content is added to the site regularly. The Alabama Humanities Foundation holds the copyright to EOA's original content in trust for the citizens of Alabama. EOA is a collaborative effort involving many individuals and organizations. EOA authors come from all areas of scholarship and range from scholars at academic institutions to scientists out in the field. The multimedia content that makes EOA a dynamic educational tool is made possible by the generosity of organizational partners that have shared their collections and archives with the project. EOA's mission is to present trustworthy and authoritative information on a wide range of topics. Its editors believe that in order to be credible EOA must strike a balance between celebration and condemnation. Alabama's problems are not glossed over, nor are its accomplishments and successes overlooked. Rich and poor; educated and illiterate; Confederate and Unionist; planter and slave; male and female--Alabamians of all stripes--have contributed to the development of the state, and EOA endeavors to present all these stories.","The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata."],"dc_format":null,"dcterms_identifier":null,"dcterms_language":["eng"],"dcterms_publisher":null,"dc_relation":null,"dc_right":["http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"dcterms_is_part_of":null,"dcterms_subject":["African American civic leaders--Alabama","African American civil rights workers--Alabama","African American clergy--Alabama","African American college students--Alabama","African American judges--Alabama","African American lawyers--Alabama","African Americans--Alabama","African Americans--Civil rights--Alabama","African Americans--Education--Alabama","African Americans--Politics and government","African Americans--Segregation--Alabama","African Americans--Violence against","Alabama Christian Movement for Human Rights","Alabama--Politics and government","Alabama--Race relations--History--20th century","Birmingham (Ala.)--Race relations--History--20th century","Black Panther Party","Boycotts--Alabama--Montgomery","Christians--Alabama--Birmingham--Political activity","Civic leaders--Alabama","Civil rights demonstrations--Alabama","Civil rights movements--Alabama","Civil rights workers--Alabama","Civil rights--Alabama","Clergy--Alabama","College integration--Alabama","Democratic Party (Alabama)","Direct action--Alabama","Freedom Rides, 1961","Judges--United States","Ku Klux Klan (1915- )","Lawyers--Alabama","Legislators--Alabama","Montgomery (Ala.)--Race relation--History--20th century","Montgomery Bus Boycott, Montgomery, Ala., 1955-1956","Montgomery Improvement Association","National Association for the Advancement of Colored People","National Democratic Party of Alabama","Nonviolence--Alabama","Passive resistance--Alabama","Political parties--Alabama","Politicians--Alabama","Project C, Birmingham, Ala., 1963","Protest marches--Alabama","Race discrimination--Alabama","Race relations","School integration--Alabama","Segregation in education--Alabama","Segregation in transportation--Alabama--Montgomery","Segregation--Alabama","Selma-Montgomery Rights March, 1965","Sit-ins--Alabama","Social change--Alabama","Southern Christian Leadership Conference","States' rights (American politics)","States' Rights Democratic Party","White supremacy movements--Alabama"],"dcterms_title":["Encyclopedia of Alabama"],"dcterms_type":["Text"],"dcterms_provenance":["Encyclopedia of Alabama (Project)"],"edm_is_shown_by":null,"edm_is_shown_at":["http://www.encyclopediaofalabama.org/"],"dcterms_temporal":null,"dcterms_rights_holder":null,"dcterms_bibliographic_citation":null,"dlg_local_right":["All rights reserved.
