Cleaborn Homes were part of Memphis public housing, specifically Foote Homes, which were segregated in the 1960s, and retained a largely African-American population continuing through the 1990s. Built in 1955, the 460 unit public housing project has provided a neighborhood and housing for thousands of people over the years. Residents were asked to leave the complex in 2010 and in March, 2011, demolition began. Now known as Cleaborn Pointe, the area has faced redevelopment, including the closing of Foote Homes. In these interviews, former residents discuss their time in Cleaborn, which was often plagued by violence and the closing of businesses and schools. Former residents also describe the sense of community that Cleaborn Homes brought them during their time there."],"dc_format":["application/pdf","image/png","audio/mpeg"],"dcterms_identifier":null,"dcterms_language":["eng"],"dcterms_publisher":null,"dc_relation":null,"dc_right":["http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"dcterms_is_part_of":null,"dcterms_subject":["African Americans","City planning","Memphis (Tenn.)","Neighborhoods","Public housing","Segregation","Community life","Organized crime","Drug abuse and crime","Memphis Housing Authority","Memphis City Schools"],"dcterms_title":["Cleaborn Homes resident interviews"],"dcterms_type":["Sound"],"dcterms_provenance":["Rhodes College"],"edm_is_shown_by":null,"edm_is_shown_at":["https://hdl.handle.net/10267/34240"],"dcterms_temporal":null,"dcterms_rights_holder":null,"dcterms_bibliographic_citation":null,"dlg_local_right":null,"dcterms_medium":["interviews"],"dcterms_extent":null,"dlg_subject_personal":null,"dcterms_subject_fast":null,"fulltext":null}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":12,"offset_value":0,"total_count":1,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true},"facets":[{"name":"subject_facet","items":[{"value":"African Americans","hits":1},{"value":"City planning","hits":1},{"value":"Community life","hits":1},{"value":"Drug abuse and crime","hits":1},{"value":"Memphis (Tenn.)","hits":1},{"value":"Memphis City Schools","hits":1},{"value":"Memphis Housing Authority","hits":1},{"value":"Neighborhoods","hits":1},{"value":"Organized crime","hits":1},{"value":"Public housing","hits":1},{"value":"Segregation","hits":1}],"options":{"sort":"count","limit":11,"offset":0,"prefix":null}},{"name":"location_facet","items":[{"value":"United States, Tennessee, Shelby County, Memphis, 35.14953, -90.04898","hits":1}],"options":{"sort":"count","limit":11,"offset":0,"prefix":null}},{"name":"us_states_facet","items":[{"value":"Tennessee","hits":1}],"options":{"sort":"count","limit":11,"offset":0,"prefix":null}},{"name":"year_facet","items":[{"value":"2011","hits":1}],"options":{"sort":"count","limit":100,"offset":0,"prefix":null},"min":"2011","max":"2011","count":1,"missing":0},{"name":"medium_facet","items":[{"value":"interviews","hits":1}],"options":{"sort":"count","limit":11,"offset":0,"prefix":null}},{"name":"type_facet","items":[{"value":"Sound","hits":1}],"options":{"sort":"count","limit":11,"offset":0,"prefix":null}},{"name":"rights_facet","items":[{"value":"http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/","hits":1}],"options":{"sort":"count","limit":11,"offset":0,"prefix":null}},{"name":"provenance_facet","items":[{"value":"Rhodes College","hits":1}],"options":{"sort":"count","limit":11,"offset":0,"prefix":null}},{"name":"subjects_sms","items":[{"value":"Peoples \u0026 Cultures","hits":1}],"options":{"sort":"count","limit":11,"offset":0,"prefix":null}},{"name":"educator_resource_b","items":[{"value":"false","hits":1}],"options":{"sort":"count","limit":100,"offset":0,"prefix":null}}]}}
