The black-and-white photographs were discovered in 2004 in the basement of the Montgomery County Sheriff's office. The Web site also provides examples of book pages for the African American men arrest book and the African American women arrest book as well as a page from the handwritten arrest ledger. On February 21, 1956, over one hundred African Americans were arrested for participating in the Montgomery Bus Boycott and charged with violating a state anti-boycotting law passed in 1921.
