This is a voluntary group who raised the $400.00 which Rev. J.W. Seals presented to Rev. J.A. De Laine to go to the 1952 General Conference after Rev. De Laine was defeated in the Palmetto Cnoference as a delegate. This group also raised about $300.00 previous to this to help on the legal expences of Rev. J.A. De Laine when the defendence in the Clarendon County Segregation Case had De Laine sued $20,000.00, through S.I. Benson's name, and five of them were the prosecuting witnesses who got the judgment against De Laine for allegedly slander. This picture was taken in St. James A.M.E. Church at Lake City, S.C., during a testimonial meeting given by the people from Clarendon County (in Florence County) honoring Rev. J.A. De Laine for the work that he had done in arousnig the people of Clarendon County to action. This picture was taken on March 30, 1952 which was the third anniversary of the movement to get 20 parents for plaintiffs to file suit for Equal Educational Opporunities and Facilities; the first meeting in this campain was held at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church March 20, 1949. The names are as follows: Mr. L.B. Rivers, Chairman of the NAACP Executive Committee and became president of the Clarendon County Branch in 1953; 2. Mrs. Ella (Mud) Ragin; 3. Mrs. Rebecca Seals, a teacher who lost her job because she and Rev. Seals took a stand; 4. Mrs. Henretta Nelson; 5. Mrs. Edward Frazier, wife of Rev. Frazier; Mrs Rebecca Brown. In the rear is Rev. Brooks Nelson and Mrs. Henretta Palmer. All on this picture are members of the A.M.E.
