Day has a list of questions provided by Goreau regarding dates and details of various events in Mahalia Jackson's life which Beal answers. He shares a humorous anecdote about driving through the desert on the way to Los Angeles in a hot car because Jackson was \"afraid of air conditioning\" – 17:10. Beal also describes meeting Sidney Poitier after an appearance in A Raisin in the Sun around the time of Jackson's first Madison Square Garden affair – 23:24. Day and Beal discuss Jackson's first meeting with Harry Belafonte – 27:48. Beal mentions Jackson's uncanny ability to \"smell death\" – 36:30.
