- Letter from November 23, 1955 from Joseph A. DeLaine, Sr. of New York, New York, to Mrs. R. H. MachEacherson of Easthampton, Massachusetts, requesting that she and others write to New York governor Averell Harriman urging that DeLaine not be extradited to South Carolina, and to write federal officials in Washington, D.C. to stop the lawlessness of southern White Citizens Councils, which DeLaine terms the modern Ku Klux Klan.
