- Description:
- Letter from Harold R. Boulware, attorney from Columbia, South Carolina to Joseph A. DeLaine, Sr. of Summerton, South Carolina, inviting DeLaine to meet with Thurgood Marshall and staff in Columbia on March 12, 1949 to map out plans for "our school action." A note handwritten by DeLaine lists those present at the initial meeting and describes subsequent meetings, such as that at St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church, where the African American parents in Clarendon County promised to take the case all the way to the United States Supreme Court if DeLaine led the way.
