One page typewritten memorandum, dated March 7, 1969, and six page monthly report covering the period February 2, 1969 through March 4, 1969; both items were prepared by Isaiah DeQuincey Newman, field director for the South Carolina Conference of Branches for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. The memo announces the move of the South Carolina Conference of Branches headquarters to a new address; the monthly report begins with a summary of speaking engagements, press conferences, news interviews, poverty inspection tours, meetings, travel, and correspondence conducted on behalf of the organization in South Carolina. The report continues with further detail of poverty inspection tours and followup relief efforts, both public and private, that took place in the city of Anderson, and the counties of Chesterfield, Beaufort, and Jasper. The last item mentioned in the report is a school desegregation campaign in the town of Abbeville.
