JAMES HOWARD MEREDITH,
plaintiff, having been first duly sworn, as above noted, was called as
an adverse witness by the Defendants and, as such, was cross-
examined and testified, as follows:

BY COUNSEL SHANDS:
Q. James, are you James H. Meredith?
A. That is right.
Q. Speak loud enough, James, so they can hear you. What
was your answer?
A. Yes.
Q. Are you the plaintiff in this lawsuit?
A. That is right, sir.
Q. James, do you understand what your function as a witness
is in this lawsuit, as a party plaintiff?
A. Probably I don't; I don't understand the question.
Q. Do you understand that it is your duty as a witness to
answer the questions that are asked you? Do you understand that?
A. Yes, sir.
Q. Do you understate that your answers are to be responsive
to the questions that I ask you?
A. Right, Sir.
Q. What is that?
A. Yes, sir.
Q. What is your understanding of what "responsive" is?
A. That is to be a direct answer to the question asked.
Question- Without rambling around?
Answer- That is right.
Question- Or making speeches?
Answer- That is right, sir.
Question- Do you understand that you are here under oath to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?
Answer- Yes, sir.
Question- Do you understand that that carries to every bit of your testimony?
Answer- I do.
Question- James, when did you first see this complaint? Do you know what a complaint is?
Answer- I assume you are talking about the--
Question- --You read it, didn't you?
Answer- Yes.
Question- When did you first see that?
Answer- You mean the one you have?
Question- The one you filed?
Answer- You want the exact date?
Question- I want the date.
Answer- Let's see. The day before it was filed.
Question- The day before it was filed?
Answer- Yes.
