- Records collected by the Mississippi State Sovereignty Commission on Aaron Henry between 1956 and 1973. Henry was a pharmacist in Clarksdale, Coahoma County, Mississippi. Henry was active in local civil rights organizations before joining the state branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and later becoming its president. The file contains a picture and biographic note of Henry, press releases by civil rights organizations mentioning Henry, memorandums by Sovereignty Commission leaders about Henry's activities, documents about Henry's 1963 campaign for Mississippi Governor on the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party ticket, reports of rallies and boycotts in 1963, and articles about Henry published in Mississippi newspapers and national publications.
