- Negroes-Cleve-Schools-Riots-School Bldg Sites--photo verso. On April 6th and 7th, 1964, the United Freedom Movement (UFM) picketed at the Lakeview construction site to protest the school board's plans to build three elementary schools to relieve overcrowding of black students at the Hazeldell School. Reverend Bruce W. Klunder, a twenty-seven year old minister and Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) member died after he was crushed by a bulldozer while protesting at the Lakeview school construction site on April 7, 1964.
