Tisdale, Geneva, 1933-

Biography:

"Geneva Tisdale was born in South Carolina and moved to North Carolina in the 1940s. She began working at the F.W. Woolworth store on Elm Street in Greensboro in 1951 as a fountain girl. When the February 1, 1960, sit-in occurred, she was working the sandwich board. Tisdale was one of three Woolworth employees to be the first blacks served at the counter after it was desegregated.
