- African American civil rights worker featured in the Alabama Department of Public Safety's publication, Individuals active in civil disturbances. On June 30, 1960. Saunders and fellow Non-violent Action Group (N.A.G.) members, Gwendolyn Greene (Britt), William Griffin, Michael Proctor, and Cecil Washington Jr. were arrested when they attempted to ride Glen Echo Park's Dentzel Carousel to protest the long-standing segregation policies of the privately-owned amusement park.
