- Biography:
- Born in 1945, Alphonso Kelly Petway was a student at Washington High School in Pensacola, Florida when he was arrested for his participation in the Freedom Rides during the summer of 1961. Petway, along with his father, sister and Cecil A. Thomas, participated in a Freedom Ride from Montgomery, Alabama to Jackson, Mississippi where the group was arrested in the Jackson airport on July 24, 1961.
