Pabel, Hilmar


Born in Rawitsch, Germany in 1910, Hilmar Pabel was working as a photojournalist for Quick magazine when he was arrested for his participation in the Freedom Rides during the summer of 1961. As part of the Freedom Ride, Pabel, along with nine others, took a Greyhound bus from Nashville, Tennessee to Jackson, Mississippi where he was arrested on 29 July 1961.
