Matthews, J. B. (Joseph Brown), 1894-
American linguist, educator, writer, and political activist. He served as a chief investigator for the House Committee on Un-American Activities headed by Martin Dies, Jr., and as a consultant on Communist affairs for the Hearst Corporation.
