Cassibry, Fred J., 1918-1996


Fred J. Cassibry (1918-1996) was appointed as a federal judge to serve for the U.S. District Court, Eastern Division of Louisiana by president Lyndon B. Johnson in 1966, a position he held until retirement over twenty years later. Cassibry was also a field representative for the National Labor Relations Board and practiced law from 1947 to 1960. He served on the New Orleans City Council from 1954 to 1961 and was a state court judge on the Orleans Parish District Court 1961-1966. He retired from the judiciary in 1987, after which he returned to private practice. He served on the Louisiana Economic Development and Gaming Corporation from 1994 until his death in 1996. From:
