Maybelle Carter; Carter, Mother Maybelle; b. Maybelle Addington, Nickelsville, Va., 5-10-1909; d. 10-23-1978; married Ezra Carter in 1926; member of the Carter Family, country music group, 1927-1943; performed with her daughters as the Carter Family into the 1950s and solo until 1967
