- Daniel E. Burkholder was a twenty-nine year old lecturer and business man for CORE when he was arrested for his participation in the Freedom Rides. Burkholder was arrested in the Trailways terminal in Jackson, Mississippi on 9 July 1961 after he and seven others rode a bus from Montgomery, Alabama to Jackson, Mississippi.
