- Biography:
- Adams, a 21-year-old Latin American studies major at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, was a Freedom Summer volunteer. Raised in rural Southern Illinois, Adams became an SDS regional traveler in the Midwest during the anti-war movement of the 1960s. An anthropology professor, Adams has published several books including The Transformation of Rural Life, "All Anybody Ever Wanted of Me Was to Work:" the Memoirs of Edith Bradley Rendleman, and Fighting for the Farm: Rural America Transformed.
