This handbook was produced by the Council of Federated Organizations (COFO). It includes an introduction of Mississippi political programs, voter registration, the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party (MFDP) and the seating of delegates at the National Democratic Convention, and some techniques for field work. The handbook continues with an outline of Mississippi project areas, a political map of Mississippi, the number of African Americans registered by county, a summary of relevant federal powers relating to voting rights, and a history of federal action in Mississippi.
