From the Randall (Herbert) Freedom Summer Photographs. A view of a meeting of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party (MFDP) from the rear of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, during Freedom Summer, 1964. Seated at the table in front of the altar are, left, SNCC Field Secretary Sandy Leigh, Director of the COFO-Hattiesburg Project, and another African-American man. Standing to his left is volunteer Lorne Cress, Director of the COFO-Hattiesburg Community Centers. Seated in front of Cress, wearing a white dress with a scooped neck, is local activist Peggy Jean Connor.
