African-American Freedom School students take part in class discussion sitting at a table in the basement room of an African-American church in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, during Freedom Summer, 1964. George Ann Adams is the only female student on the left. Three adults, probably volunteers, sit at the bottom of a flight of stairs.
