From the Randall (Herbert) Freedom Summer Photographs. Local people socialize with Freedom Summer volunteers at the fish fry given for the volunteers by local civil rights leader Vernon Dahmer on his property in the Kelly Settlement, to the north of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, on July 4, 1964. Sitting on the steps, wearing a cap, is volunteer Arthur Reese, Co-Coordinator of the Hattiesburg Freedom Schools. Standing at the picnic table is local African-American resident Addie Ruth White and sitting on another table is SNCC staff person, Marion Davidson
