From the Miller (Michael J.) Civil Rights Collection; The letter is typed on Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party (MFDP) letterhead and is signed by 18 individuals. It was meant to spark publicity for the upcoming Congressional challenge sponsored by the MFDP in 1965. It asks for its recipients to help fund the trip of approximately 1,000 African Americans from Mississippi who wish to travel to Washington to demonstrate in favor of the challenge.
