From the Ellin (Joseph and Nancy) Freedom Summer Collection; Resolution proposed by the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party (MFDP) stating the need for and aims of the MFDP. According to the resolution, the MFDP was created in response to the need for a new Democratic Party in Mississippi, one which would be open to all citizens and uphold the principles of the National Democratic Party.
